Research Interests
My interests broadly lie in the field of pest and plant interactions in diverse agricultural landscapes. More specifically, I am interested in the bacterial/fungal community hemipterans (sucking insects) transmit to cotton agroecosystems & its effect on developing fruit. I will be focusing on the economic relationship of boll-feeding sucking bugs on cotton by integrating contemporary approaches in IPM, with a broad objective of reducing reliance on chemical control and advancing the use of ecological-based methods. My goal is to develop economic threshold and management recommendations for stink bug and plant bugs in South Texas cotton, while incorporating the degree of risk associated with cotton boll rot. The ultimate purpose of my activities is to educate and share with industry & growers state wide while helping maintain the viability of agriculture in Texas.
